Meet the therapist

Marissa Eve Ferrao is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and provisionally registered art therapist (ATR-P) with more than 6 years of experience in the mental health field. She finds meaning in helping adolescents and adults discover their authentic selves and develop their strengths in self-advocacy. Marissa approaches psychotherapy from a neurodiverse, trauma-informed, multi-cultural, and holistic perspective - utilizing psychoeducation, mindfulness, relational therapy, and more. She specializes in treating clients who are struggling with chronic illness, trauma, grief/bereavement/loss, ADHD, Autism, executive dysfunction, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and stressors from relational conflicts, life transitions, and sociocultural factors/systems.

Marissa completed her Master's degree in Art Therapy and Counseling (MAATC) at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT. She has worked with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds and special populations, including 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, college students, first responders, veterans, sexual violence victims/survivors, individuals in recovery from addictions and substance use, neurodivergent individuals, aging and older adults, and couples. Her eclectic and integrative therapy approach is holistic, humanistic/person-centered, and compassion focused.

Marissa strongly senses and empathizes with others’ feelings and experiences. Client well-being and safety are a priority in every session.
